Tried and Tested Sleep Remedies

Recently, we’ve had an influx of customers searching our store for effective sleep remedies. It seems to be increasingly challenging to get a good night’s rest.

Customers tell us that stress, work, children, dogs, noise and overstimulated nervous systems seem to be the main causes. They’re keen to try anything that might help!

And luckily, at Beldi Maison, we have plenty of wonderful remedies that we suggest.

These remedies will help you sleep better and wake feeling refreshed and ready for a great day;

Unwind in a candle-lit bath

There is a great deal of evidence to show that a warm bath before bed can help you sleep.

According to Nuffield Health, it’s the cooling down after your bath that switches your body into sleep mode.

Light a scented candle, add some beautiful bath salts and lie back with your eyes closed. Add some gentle music if it helps you relax.

The biggest benefit of a bath before bed? It forces you to switch off your devices and enjoy some calm, screen-free time.

Sip a cup of camomile

Camomile tea contains a flavonoid called Apigenin, which produces a mild sedative effect.

We recommend you enjoy your cup of camomile about an hour before bed. This will give time for the mild sedative effect to kick in. But it also means you (hopefully) won’t be woken in the night needing the loo!

Camomile tea has a gentle flavour. You can add a drop of honey or lemon to enhance the flavour. Or simply enjoy it plain for an earthy taste.

Bedtime scents

Before you get into bed, try rolling a fragranced oil onto your pulse points. These include the outside of your wrist, between your toes and behind your earlobe.

Use slow motions and breathe deeply to enjoy the scent. Look for pulse point oils that feature lavender and orange oil as these will aid sleep.

Once you’ve finished with your pulse points, spritz your pillow with a sleep mist. If you repeat this routine each night, your body will begin to expect it and realise it’s time to get sleepy.

A calm routine will also help you look forward to bedtime, instead of feeling anxious that you won’t sleep.

Make it dark

Is your bedroom dark enough? Any bit of light can impact your ability to fall and stay asleep.

Blackout blinds or curtains will make a big difference. Also, make sure you unplug any electronic devices that emit light.

If it’s not possible to block out the light externally, a sleep mask is a must. Make sure it’s 100% cotton for extra softness and comfort.

Get cosy

Now that the evenings are colder we love to wear alpaca bed socks which are known for their exceptional warmth, comfort, and softness, making them perfect for keeping feet cosy on cold nights..

Alpaca fibres have natural air pockets that provide excellent insulation, keeping feet warm without the bulk. This feature makes alpaca socks ideal for wearing in bed, as they retain heat but don’t cause overheating.
