Things to do in Bromley on a rainy day

Think you’ve run out of things to do in Bromley on a rainy day? Think again!

There are plenty of interesting places to explore when it’s wet outside. These activities are ideal if you’re with the kids, the dog or simply fancy getting out of the house on your own.

Here are our favourite picks of things to do in Bromley on a rainy day;

  • Coffee and cake at The Lavender House

  • For 15 years, The Lavender House in Sundridge Park has welcomed locals to enjoy its cosy atmosphere and delicious fare. It’s a family and dog-friendly independent coffee shop. There’s also a covered tea garden out the back for al fresco dining, even on a wet day.

We love the Lavender House because of its warm, welcoming ambience. And, of course, the cakes!

If you fancy a special treat, they offer a Traditional Afternoon tea as well as a Kids Afternoon tea. Or, you can simply pop in for a coffee and something sweet (their macarons are our favourite).

  • Take in a film from a reclined leather armchair

  • Vue Cinema in Bromley South is hard to beat in terms of comfort. Film-goers can enjoy their favourite movie whilst reclining on an oversized leather armchair (with footrest).

Choose from the huge array of delicious snacks and treats, and grab a drink (alcoholic or not) from the bar. Vue shows the latest blockbuster films and offers multiple show times each day, usually with last minute availability.

It’s the perfect pick-me-up for a miserable day!

  • Enjoy some plant therapy at a local garden centre

  • According to Mind Charity, spending time in nature can improve our mental health.

They say, “Spending time in green space or bringing nature into your everyday life can benefit both your mental and physical wellbeing. For example, doing things like growing food or flowers, exercising outdoors or being around animals can have lots of positive effects” (Source: Mind)

But you may not fancy a wander through the woods when it’s wet outside! So, why not enjoy the wellbeing benefits of plant therapy at your local garden centre instead?

Homebase in Catford offers a huge selection of greenery for you to peruse, as well as a large indoor centre that’s perfect for energetic kids to explore.

Dobbies Garden Centre in Keston boasts an enclosed Greenhouse. It’s warm and welcoming on a rotten day.

Polhill - a little further afield but worth the drive, Polhill offers loads of indoor things to see on a rainy day.

  • Hit the leisure centre

  • The Pavilion Leisure Centre is located in the middle of Bromley. It boasts a huge soft play, swimming pool, games arcade and bowling alley.

There’s ample parking at The Glades Shopping Centre, or you can catch a bus from pretty much anywhere in Bromley. Most activities need to be pre-booked, but this is easy via their online booking system.

The Pavilion also hosts fantastic children’s parties, which are ideal for Winter birthday kids.

  • Treat yourself to some ethical, eco-friendly shopping

  • Beldi Maison stocks sustainable, ethical and eco-friendly homeware and gifts. Located in Sundridge Park, it’s become a popular destination for locals and online shoppers.
